We are excited to announce that the Compensation Cafe will be hosting a special edition of the Carnival of HR on September 19.
For our readers who may not be familiar, the Carnival is a regular event that brings together a diverse collection of blog posts on topics related to human resources and talent management. As ours will be a special edition dedicated to employee rewards, we hope that the gathering will be a way to introduce our readers to some new blogs and bloggers - along with some fresh ideas and perspectives on employee rewards. Our Cafe Carnival Committee will be in charge of the review and selection process, to ensure a slate of Carnival content to amaze and delight!
To our fellow HR bloggers, we extend the invitation to join us for a fun-filled day of straight talk and caffeinated discussion on everything rewards. Please consider submitting a recent topical post to the effort. Our submission deadline is Monday, September 17, 5 p.m. CST. Submissions can be directed to Ann Bares at abares@alturaconsultinggroup.com. Feel free to consult the Carnival guidelines or contact Ann with any questions.
Topical areas which we consider to be under the banner of rewards include:
• Compensation
• Pay for performance
• Incentives
• Recognition
• Performance management
• Regulatory and compliance aspects of compensation
• Motivation, as it pertains to rewarding work
Hope to see you there!
Yours truly,
The Café Carnival Committee (Ann Bares, Jim Brennan, Chuck Csizmar, and Margaret O’Hanlon)

Trying to motivate with carrots and sticks is a bad idea and should not be done.

"Motivation" is not something for a manager to give. Often the organization saps employee's motivation so a manager can help by removing those bad practices - http://management.curiouscatblog.net/2006/04/20/stop-demotivating-employees/
