Ann clarifies a frequently misunderstood point. A pay system is an ongoing human process and not a physically tangible unchanging object. A method for human action, not a thing with discrete material properties. It's a verb, not a noun. How rather than what.

Appreciation of that vital difference is critical for compensation professionals.
