Most tricky issues arise due to the exercise of managerial discretion.

Suggestions include: "This is what management decided. Understanding does not imply or require agreement. Executives must act in the best interest of the entire enterprise and answer to the owners for their choices. That's the reason for their big pay ... which likewise is subject to challenge by others, but it is (in turn) determined by their superiors. No human organization is a perfect one where everyone will be pleased with their treatment."
