I heard someone say once that 92% of our speech is advocacy and only 8% is critical inquiry. I can't vouch for the research behind those numbers, but as I listen to people (including myself) I have to think those figures are close. Objectivity is a rare gift or a perspective/skill that is acquired with great effort. And in HR, it matters, maybe more than most fields.

I've heard similar stats cited Judy and regardless of where it comes from, it is so important for us to do our utmost in HR to be objective.
