Darcy, thanks for pointing out an important financial trade off to the "streamlining" offered by PTO banks.

Darcy, great post! Its nice to see someone waive the caution flag before jumping on the PTO bandwagon.

There's another issue that I can't help resolve in my mind for labor-intensive organizations. (Maybe its because HR Compensation folks have to work so closely with Finance folks.) How do you have any kind of analysis & control over where your PTO dollars are being spent if they are all lumped into one PTO pot? The only way I can see doing this is for the time accounting folks to maintain traditional time accounting practices even though to the employee it looks like one big pot.
