My thought is that the employees are more productive if they are not unionized. The stereotype of union workers didn't come about because they put their nose to the grindstone every day. Most are all about how much can I get paid for the least amount of effort. If you don't have the "protection" of the union- you may be more willing to give your best so you can keep your job. No rewards for poor performers.
