Thanks, Stephanie, for offering the scholarly taxonomy of terms used in treating the ever-popular issue of "fairness." Even though I feel there is a difference between FAIR (appropriate) and JUST (legally warranted), it really DOES help to have those discrete segmented categories defined, for better processing. And it reinforces our old mantra about comp being as much art as science.

Thank you Stephanie for spelling each of these dimensions out...each can be important when considering employee perception about the equity of pay decisons. The first dimension seems to be the easiest for employees to understand so it is important to consider the other dimensions when developing employee comunication about pay.
