Jim, Today, don't we look to consultants, most of the time external consultants, to give us the answers, paying them extraordinary amounts of money to help us?

Good point, Shawn. As referenced in http://www.compensationcafe.com/2013/10/forgive-dumb-questions-1.html, that is confirmed by the first few Brennan’s Laws on consulting, like "Although an idea from an employee may be rejected, the same idea from a paid outside consultant will be accepted." and "When management concludes that someone from the outside is always smarter than an employee, they are saying that, 'no one with any brains could be expected to work here.' "
