Agree Derek ----- managers can't see everything and with more and more teams in the workplace, employees are the ones who know who is contributing and who is not.

It's all about integrating and layering reward components. Reward programs are made up of many components and each one is important. Recognition can also have sub-components for use by different parts of the employee base, including peer-to-peer. You have to have all the tools in the toolbox.
