Doubt that those attempting to patch up a defective incentive plan would use their cleaning crew working under stress with the publicity of the press videotaping their fixes, but you never know. From some of the iatrogenic messes that I've seen from quick panicked "corrective measures," it might happen more than you think.

I find this more common in Sales Comp than other incentive plans, but it is not uncommon throughout the industry. There is always a great "reason" why things were rushed, but it seldom a good defense when things go wrong.

You gotta' love Sales. The worst is when they change the goals several times through the year. If you sell vacuum cleaners it's OK --- but if you sell products that take as long as a year to close it's very frustrating.
