Well said, Chuck. Some sales managers insist on leaving a portion of their personal total compensation at risk, because they feel they need that incentive to fuel their enthusiasm and drive their maximum productivity. It is not the cash itself but the stimulus that the missing residual provides that is vital to their personal motivation. People enjoy competing against themselves. Ask any golfer, bowler or horseshoe player, just to mention a few examples.
