Good practical advice, Chuck. I would add: keep notes of conversations, especially to document current agreements or understandings which are highly likely to be "mis-remembered" at a later date. Many a "deal" has been retroactively denied by managers with conveniently malleable memories. Keeping commitments is vital in our profession, from both perspectives!
