Although I would advise NOT starting with the HBR article, which suffers from... well... possibly excessive prolix academic-style MBA-speak. It's long and wordy. Read it LAST, for more precise understanding of the total context of the issue in the world of industrial/organizational psychology and classic organizational development practice.

The test of time gives the best measure of effectiveness. Seeing how a "bold idea" worked over the years is vital for "proof of concept." I am a firm believer in retrospective review and analysis. Diagnosis should always precede prescription! Always use what works best in your situation.
